The Academy Award nominations have arrived. In the lead with 13 nominations is the romance “The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button”. The nominations include; Best Picture and acting honors for Brad Pitt, Taraji P. Henson, and of course Best Director for David Fincher. The other Best Picture nominees are “Milk”, “Frost/Nixon”, “The Reader”, and “Slumdog Millionaire”.

Best Supporting Actor nomination went to Heath Ledger for his role in “The Dark Knight”. This nomination came just one year after his death from an accidental overdose. The movie itself was given eight nominations – but many of these were for very technical categories.

“Slumdog Millionaire” was in second place with 10 nominations that included Best Director for Danny Boyle and two to three nominations for songs. Angelina Jolie has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for the drama the “Changeling”.

While Kate Winslet won two Golden Globes for Best Dramatic Actress for “Revolutionary Road” and Bes Supporting Actress for “The Reader”. Now she has been nominated for Best Actress Oscar award for “The Reader” – but nothing for “Revolutionary Road”. Other best-actress nominees were Anne Hathaway for “Rachel Getting Married” and Meryl Streep for “Doubt.”

Other Best Actor nominations include Frank Langella, “Frost/Nixon”; Sean Penn, “Milk”; and Mickey Rourke, “The Wrestler.”
