Samuel L. Jackson’s new movie “Lakeview Terrace” ruled the box office this weekend in North America. This is the second movie this year that Jackson has starred in and that has done so well in theatres. Estimates showed that “Lakeview Terrace” sold $15.6 million during the first three days of its release. This might seem like a low number – but distributor Screen Gems said that they were pleased and that its exceeded their expectations.
In the movie Jackson plays a vindictive cop who uses his power on the force to make his new neighbors feel unwelcome in their new home. He uses many tactics against the couple who have no one to turn to for help. The film was directed by Neil LaBute.
The other new releases this weekend seemed to be ignored as audiences flocked to the edgy thriller. “My Best Friend’s Girl” starring Dane Cook and Kate Hudson made $8.3 million, the cartoon “Igor” made $8 million, and “Ghost Town” made only $5.2 million. “Burn After Reading” starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt fell to the number 2 spot this weekend at $11.3 million.
