Ian McKellen Asked To Reprise Role As Gandalf The Grey In “The Hobbit”

Ian McKellen has been asked to once again portray the role of Gandalf the Grey in the up and coming adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy “The Hobbit”. Whether or not he has accepted to play the role has yet to be decided. “Of course he wants to do it, but nothing’s been agreed or signed,” Clair Dobbs said.

Film Industry Working Overtime To Avoid Actors’ Strike

After all of the problems that occurred during the writers’ strike the film industry is trying its hardest to create a contract that will keep the actors from following in the same footsteps. In Los Angeles the feature film production increased 11% during the first three months of the year. “The studios are trying to get production wrapped before June 30,” the expiration date for the current Screen Actors Guild contract, Jack Kyser, chief economist for the Los Angeles Economic Development Corp., said Friday.

Guillermo Del Toro To Direct ‘The Hobbit’

For four years fans of the ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy have been waiting patiently for New Line Cinema to create ‘The Hobbit’ a prequel to the movies. That time has come and they have chosen Guillermo del Toro to direct it.

The 43-year-old filmmaker will move to New Zealand for four years to make the films back-to-back with executive producer Peter Jackson. Del Toro wrote and directed “Pan’s Labyrinth,” which earned six Oscar nominations in 2006 and won three awards. He is also the director of the upcoming sequel “Hellboy II: The Golden Army,” whose monsters bear the unmistakable surreal vision of the Mexican-born filmmaker.

Tina Fey started off as one of the writers on ‘SNL’ and moved to starring the popular comedy show - ‘30 Rock.’ Now she is branching out even father and has taken on a movie along with the co-anchor on ‘SNL’ - Amy Poehlyer. The movie is surprisingly sweet and cheerful - which leaves no room for people to be angry or find anything controversial.

“The Forbidden Kingdom” Pulls In $20.9 Mil After First Weekend

Jackie Chan and Jet Li teamed up this weekend to secure the No. 1 spot on the box office chart after they made $20.9 million with their new movie “The Forbidden Kingdom”. The movie is about a young teen who is sent back in time to start his own martial arts adventure in China. The movie featured both Jet Li and Jackie Chan - Hollywood’s biggest kung fu superstars. “I couldn’t believe it had never been done before,” said Harvey Weinstein, whose Weinstein Co. released “The Forbidden Kingdom” along with partner Lionsgate.

‘21′ Fails To Follow Storyline

In 21 an MIT club tried to pull off the art of beating blackjack through the use of code words and math. Watching the movie may even make you feel as if you could go to Vegas right now and beat the system yourself.

Of course, nothing’s ever that easy, nor is it as much fun as it looks. And that’s the problem with 21, a film that’s great with abstract theories but ignores the ugly truths about its characters—which is to say, there really aren’t any, just contrived motivations papered over with amiable, attractive young actors.

Kids have gone crazy for the first and second movies and now that “High School Musical 3” is coming out on the big screen there is no containing them. However, this isn’t the only thing they have to look forward to. “High School Musical 4” is already in the works.

New James Bond Movie In The Making

The new James Bond movie – “Quantum of Solace” picks up only an hour after the “Casino Royale” movie left off. It is the first James Bond movie to become a direct sequel. The movie began filming in January and so far they have been to Britain and Panama. But for now they have stopped in Chile for a few shots.
